Namibian Craft Culture Exhibited at UA Gallery

An exhibit exploring Namibian craft culture through photographs, a documentary and physical objects collected during a University of Alabama student’s visit to the African country are on display Nov. 6-23 at the University Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa.

UA Student Receives Killam Fellowship for Study in Canada

Fulbright Canada has awarded Jordan Sandy, a student at The University of Alabama, a Killam Fellowship to study at The University of British Columbia during the 2015-2016 academic year. Sandy, a Chicago native who is double majoring in economics and English, is a University Fellow and has held membership in the Lambda Sigma Academic Honor Society. He has interned with Creative Campus and worked with SaveFirst, a free tax preparation service for low-income families.

UA Student Receives Award for Focus on International Issues

Brandon Hooks, president of the Alabama International Relations Club at The University of Alabama, was recently presented with the UNA-USA Greater Birmingham Chapter Campus Leadership Award at the United Nations 70th anniversary banquet in Birmingham.

UA Music Student’s Composition to be Performed at Carnegie Hall

A composition by Tyler Grant, a student in The University of Alabama’s School of Music, has been selected to be showcased at Carnegie Hall in New York City in April. “Panoramic Landscapes” will be performed by the Scarsdale, New York, High School wind ensemble under the direction of Jason Noble. It is Grant’s first work to be played at Carnegie Hall.
