Two Native American Music Award winners highlight this year’s Moundville Native American Festival, from Wednesday, Oct. 7 to Saturday, Oct. 10, at The University of Alabama’s Moundville Archaeological Park.
The University of Alabama Office of Community Affairs will host Community Culture Fest 2009 in downtown Northport on Sunday, Oct. 4, featuring live entertainment, food and events honoring the West Alabama area’s rich cultural and artistic history.
The UA program in creative writing will host a screening of the award-winning documentary “The Dhamma Brothers” and a talk by students teaching in the Alabama prisons on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa.
The University of Alabama’s Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies in the English department will offer the first Southeast Milton Seminar Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at Morgan Hall on the UA campus.
Four renowned communication and information leaders will be inducted into The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences Hall of Fame Thursday, Oct. 8.
The University of Alabama will be represented by a cross-section of faculty, staff and students at the 10th annual National Outreach Scholarship Conference Sept. 28-30.
The University of Alabama’s School of Music begins its 2009-2010 Celebrity Series on Oct. 6 with a performance by renowned Russian flutist Maxim Rubtsov at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building on the UA campus.
“Rose Lee’s House,” an architectural exhibit of a house built recently by the Rural Studio, will be on display starting Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art on The University of Alabama campus.
Parents and families of students are invited to attend UA’s Family Weekend Sept. 18-20, and more than 5,000 of them have registered for the event.
Two events will be held on campus this month – Paw Fest and a Dog Splash – to benefit the West Alabama Humane Society, area animals and pet lovers.
