UA Staff, Students Win Big at PRCA Conference

The University of Alabama’s Honors College is offering a Young Voices Conference for about 50 high school students from Francis Marion, Pickens and Greensboro high schools. The conference will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at UA’s Russell Hall.
University of Alabama students will travel to Marion for Engineering Day from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Francis Marion High School. The event is designed to encourage high school students’ interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The award-winning musical “42nd Street” will be performed by The University of Alabama’s department of theatre and dance at the Mobile Civic Center April 9.

The University of Alabama Honors College presents Jhino “The Piper” Ferreira in his one-man play, “Cops and Robbers,” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Tuscaloosa River Market, 1900 Jack Warner Parkway. Ferreira, a rapper as well as a Bay Area police officer, plays 17 different characters in the play, which centers on a police shooting.
More than 700 University of Alabama students representing a cross section of campus will present research findings April 7, during UA’s annual Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference at the Bryant Conference Center.
The University of Alabama will recognize the achievement of outstanding students and faculty during Honors Week activities on campus from Monday, March 30, to Sunday, April 5. The Tapping on the Mound ceremony, a tradition since the early 1900s, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, on the Mound at the west side of the UA Quad (rain location will be Moody Music Building Concert Hall). University honoraries Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, Blue Key National Honor Society and Anderson Society will induct members.
