UA to Feature Work of Student Writers, Dancers, Artists

The University of Alabama invites the public to Collaborama, a presentation of collaborative work from student writers, dancers and artists. The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Morgan Hall Auditorium on campus. Admission is free.

UA Wins 2013 Beat Auburn, Beat Hunger Competition

The University of Alabama won the 2013 Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Food Drive by collecting 299,398 pounds of food to top Auburn University’s collection of 169,702 pounds of food.

Engineering Student Tops UA’s Inaugural 3MT Competition

A University of Alabama graduate student from the College of Engineering claimed the top prize in the University’s inaugural 3 Minute Thesis competition, while another engineering graduate student won the “People’s Choice” award Wednesday night.

UA’s Circle K Student Group Offers Luminaries on the Quad

The University of Alabama Circle K student organization will host its annual Luminaries on the Quad event from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. During this community service leadership project, Circle K members arrange thousands of luminary candles on the Quad between Denny Chimes and Gorgas Library and along University Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public.

UA’s Own Duck (Tape) Dynasty

For the second straight year, The University of Alabama’s PRSSA chapter has won the national College Duck Tape challenge, in addition to other national awards.

UA to Sponsor Student Leadership Development Session in 2014

The University of Alabama’s Division of Student Affairs will host the first campus-based session of the LeaderShape Institute in May 2014. Applications will be available in January 2014 through UA’s student leadership programs. The LeaderShape Institute is a six-day ethical leadership development program organized through the Office of Student Leadership in the Division of Student Affairs. The division will sponsor 60 students to attend the UA session, covering the program cost as well as travel and lodging.

UA’s Eta Sigma Gamma Highlights Dangers of Secondhand Smoke in ‘Flash Mob’ Event

Students in The University of Alabama’s health education honor society Eta Sigma Gamma will illustrate the dangers of secondhand smoke in a vivid, and somewhat shocking, way during the annual Great American Smokeout Nov. 21.

UA Graduate Students Step Up for 3MT Finals

It’s a knock-down, drag-out, winner-takes-all battle royal at the finals of UA’s 3-Minute Thesis competition at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 in in Russell Hall, room 159. OK, that’s an exaggeration. But the battle for thousands in prize money and the chance to represent the University in a national competition is pretty serious.
