UA Community Service Center Seeks Nonprofit Partners for Volunteer Service Event

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Community Service Center seeks partners for the 2013 Ripple Effect event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Ripple Effect is an annual freshman volunteer day that allows new and returning students to become acquainted with the Tuscaloosa community through service projects. The CSC is asking nonprofit organizations and community agencies for projects that can be completed by groups of five or more student volunteers during this time. Projects ideas might include cleaning and organizing storage areas, landscaping, painting and light office work. Projects can be registered at www.volunteer.ua.edu.

For more information, contact the CSC at 205/348-2865 or volunteer@ua.edu.

The Community Service Center educates students for service advocacy and leadership, civic responsibility and lifelong volunteerism by increasing awareness of community needs, resources and opportunities for social problem solving. The CSC and UA students were responsible for more than 425,000 hours of service last year in local communities, the state, across the nation and abroad.
