Annual Retailing Day at UA to Focus on Ethics in Retailing

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The annual Retailing Day program, co-sponsored by The University of Alabama and the Alabama Retail Association, will open with a session on “Leadership, Ethics and Social Responsibility in Retailing,” presented by Andy Wilson, chief operating officer of Soderquist Center for Leadership and Ethics.

The program, to be held at UA’s Bryant Conference Center, will also include the annual Alabama Retailer of the Year Awards. The awards will be presented at lunch on Thursday, Sept. 26, from noon until 2 p.m.

“The theme for this year’s conference is new horizons in retailing,” said Dr. Robert Robicheaux, Bruno Professor of Retail Marketing at UA. “But we thought that with all that is taking place in today’s business community, a session on ethics and social responsibility would be well accepted.”

Also on the agenda are George Jones, president and CEO of Saks Department Store Group; Terri Sullivan, regional vice president of Rich’s Department Stores; Leon Edwards, CEO and president of Edwards Chevrolet, and Lee Edwards, the company’s vice president of sales; and Jack Dietrich, vice president of marketing, Afflink: Marketing Solutions.
