10 Students Seek Miss Alabama Crown

Ten University of Alabama students are among this year’s field of 43 contestants set to compete for the title of Miss Alabama June 23-28 at Samford University in Birmingham.

Contestants are evaluated in the categories of interview, talent, evening gown, health and fitness, and on-stage question. They also each have their own community service initiative, a cause they championed while reigning in their respective titles.

The winner will represent Alabama at the Miss America pageant in September. Last year’s Miss Alabama, Abbie Stockard, went on to be crowned Miss America in January.

Many of the students listed have participated in the Miss University of Alabama competition during their time at UA. The Miss UA program recently earned recognition as the “Best Large School Program” by the Miss Alabama organization.
