Expert on Town-Gown Relations to Speak, Meet with Campus Communities at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, a respected advocate and consultant for building town-gown relationships in university communities, will visit The University of Alabama Monday, Sept. 15 and Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Her talk, “The 21st Century University: Connecting Communities through the Arts,” will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in 30 Alston Hall on the UA campus. A reception will follow in Alston Parlor.

Jennings-Roggensack also will speak with members of the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa, Crimson Arts Council and Creative Campus Initiative interns on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and she is available for further engagements by appointment.

Jennings-Roggensack has presented the performing arts for the past 26 years. She is executive director of Arizona State University Public Events and assistant vice president for cultural affairs with artistic, fiscal and administrative responsibility for three cultural facilities. She has additional responsibility for Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena for non-athletic activities, such as concerts, commencement and convocation exercises.

In addition, she was nominated by President Bill Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the National Council on the Arts for three years and now serves as an ambassador for the arts for the National Council on the Arts.
