From Concerts to Career Prep: January’s Must-Attend Campus Events

The spring semester is here and while the weather may be colder, that doesn’t put a damper on the many opportunities around campus to have fun, learn and grow. Check out the many activities on campus, from fun social events to short workshops to prepare students for the spring career fairs.

Students: Kick Back and Re-connect

UP Survivor
Jan. 9, 7-9 p.m., Student Center Ballroom

Start the semester off on a fun and competitive note. Teams will compete in mini-games inspired by the “Survivor” TV show.

The Sweet Home’s 300 Celebration Concert
Jan. 12, 2:30-4 p.m., Moody Music Concert Hall

Hear the world premiere of Dr. Amir Zaheri’s Concerto for Organ and performances by the University Singers, UA’s premier choral ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Morgan Luttig. This free concert celebrates the success of The Sweet Home’s 300 initiative, supporting the University Singers’ upcoming international tour to Germany.

Spring Get on Board Day

New year, new opportunities. Come meet student organizations and find new ways to get involved and make friends.

Multicultural Coffee Hour
Jan. 17, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., 2100 Student Center

The monthly tradition returns! Gather for coffee, snacks and conversations. Everyone is welcome to share, learn and connect.

Hi, Tide Day
Jan. 27, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Stop by the Student Center Lawn to get some hot chocolate. Transfer students can bring a t-shirt to swap while meeting members of SGA and other fellow students.

Dr. Woosley teams up with dozens of musicians for a one-of-a-kind concert featuring pop arrangements and more.

Passport Fair

Get everything you need for your passport knocked out in one appointment. Registration is required.

AI In Learning Panel
Jan. 14, 5-6 p.m., Tuomey Hall

Faculty, staff and students are invited to join the Student Government Association for a panel with five faculty members involved in developing smart AI use on campus.

Blackburn Institute Prospective Student Interest Session
Jan. 15, 4:30-7 p.m., Student Center Theater

Interested in the Blackburn Institute? Join students and staff to learn more about the program and application process. The event includes a presentation and a chance to mingle with students and staff afterward.

Student Research Panel
Jan. 21, 5-6 p.m., 2408 Student Center

SGA will host a student-led panel on undergraduate research. Come to learn about the ways to get involved in research and hear from fellow students in a variety of disciplines how it’s helped them.

Research Lab Fair
Jan. 22, 3-5 p.m.

The fair will showcase 13 labs across campus working on cutting-edge research. Stop by to learn more, see what kind of research is happening on campus and discover ways to get involved.
