Oct. 14-18 is Alcohol Awareness Week on campus. In collaboration with various campus partners, UA’s Office of Health Promotion and Wellness will host health and wellness events where students can learn about the risks associated with alcohol misuse and gain practical tools for making healthier decisions.
Excessive drinking is not only linked to immediate dangers, such as impaired judgment and risky behavior but also to long-term academic consequences. Research shows that students who engage in alcohol misuse are more likely to experience poor academic performance, including lower grades, missed classes and subpar results on tests and assignments. By raising awareness and providing resources, the Department of Health Promotion and Wellness aims to empower students to make informed choices and prioritize their well-being here at the Capstone.
