Outdoor Family Movie Night for UA Faculty and Staff
Aug. 2, Event starts: 7 p.m., Movie Starts, 8 p.m., The Quad
UA employees and their families are invited to a free viewing of “Sing 2.” Popcorn and beverages will be provided. Blenz and Urban Cookhouse food trucks will be on site with food for purchase. Bring chairs or blankets.
Historic Food and Household Duties
Aug. 3 and 17, 9 a.m.-noon, Gorgas House Museum Front Lawn
The Gorgas House Museum will let you travel back in time to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. At this free event, all ages will be able to make lemonade, churn butter, wash clothes and more. This is an educational and fun event you will not want to miss!
EveryWoman Book Club
Aug. 22, noon-1 p.m., Legend’s Bistro
EveryWoman Book Club is open to alumni, faculty, staff and students. This group meets monthly to discuss books written by women. The club will discuss “Black Cake” by Charmaine Wilkerson this month.
Being Successful In Your First Year – Student/Faculty Panel
Aug. 26, noon-1 p.m. Student Center Forum
A panel of students and faculty with diverse perspectives will offer insight and advice for first-year students. The panel will be moderated by Vice President for Student Life Steven Hood with time for audience questions, too.
Get On Blackboard Day with OIT
Aug. 27, 11 a.m.-noon, Student Center Forum
Come learn all about the essential technology tools you’ll be using at UA, including Blackboard, Outlook and other Microsoft products. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions after the presentation.

Women’s soccer kicks off this month with home games Aug. 7, 22 and 29. Women’s volleyball hosts the Crimson Tide Invitational Aug. 30 and 31. And football season starts Aug. 31. See the full Athletics schedule for details.

“Anything Goes”

Theatre Tuscaloosa presents this classic musical comedy set in the 1930s aboard an ocean liner.
A la cARTe
Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Kentuck Art Center Studio 2
Experiment with a variety of art media. This is Kentuck’s only studio option and is available for walk-ins. Participants can choose from four options: acrylic painting, monotypes, collage and drawing. All supplies and clean-up are provided so all you have to do is indulge in your curiosity.
Historic Tuscaloosa Lecture Series

Dr. Jennifer Feltman, professor of art history, will give a lecture on the Notre-Dame Cathedral restoration and collaborative research at UA.
