April is Blooming With Lively Events

The first full month of spring brings many exciting events to The University of Alabama. Whether you’re looking for a sweet musical or a sweet treat, these events are sure to please! 

On Campus 

Emerging Choreographers’ Showcase
April 2-4, 7:30 p.m., April 5, 5:30 p.m. April 6, 2 p.m., Dance Theatre

Student choreographers create an exciting fusion of diverse dance forms that defy expectations. Come see the next generation of talent in action.

“Love and Information”
April 2-6, 7:30 p.m., April 7, 2 p.m., Allen Bales Theatre

This fast-paced and thought-provoking production by the UA Department of Theatre and Dance explores the emotional depth of humanity with vignettes, humor, heartache and insights into love and communication.

ECO Free Market Clothing Swap 
April 10, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Student Center Lawn 

Whether you’re environmentally conscious or just looking for a free wardrobe refresh, the Environmental Council’s Clothing Swap is the event for you! Bring clothing to donate and help reduce waste, overconsumption and the prevalence of fast fashion by taking home clothes donated by others. 

Internship Know-How 
April 22, 4-5 p.m., 3400 Student Center 

If you’re in need of an internship this summer or next semester, come learn all you need to know to be your best self on applications. During this workshop, you’ll discover best practices for what to do before, during and after the internship process. 

Huxford Symphony Orchestra and University Choirs Concert 
April 18, 7:30-9:30 p.m., Frank Moody Music Building 

During this event, you’ll get a chance to bask in the beautiful orchestral and vocal sounds of some of UA’s best musical talent. You don’t want to miss it! Tickets can be purchased online.

“She Loves Me”  
April 10-12, 18-20, 7:30 p.m., April 21, 2 p.m., Marian Gallaway Theatre 

This heartwarming Broadway classic is a comedy of errors featuring two bickering coworkers who don’t know they’re each other’s pen pals. This musical is sure to leave audiences charmed. Tickets can be purchased online.

Sports 

Spring sports are in full swing with women’s softball taking on Auburn and men’s tennis taking on Texas A&M this month. There are many more exciting games to choose from. Take a look at the composite schedule so you don’t miss a game! 

Around Town 

West Alabama Food and Wine Festival 
April 21, 4-7 p.m., Downtown Northport

At this exciting yearly event, foodies throughout the community come together to enjoy some delicious cheese and wine. Gather with local chefs, restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts to sample a variety of artisan goods and raise money for area nonprofits. This year’s proceeds will benefit the West Alabama Food Bank and Turning Point. 

Druid City Art Festival 
April 5, 5-9 p.m., April 6, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Government Plaza, Tuscaloosa 

For its 15th year, the Druid City Arts Festival will return to Downtown Tuscaloosa for two days of hands-on art demonstrations, live music, good food and great artists from all over the Southeast. This lively event is a great way to get out into the Tuscaloosa community and experience quality art.
