1. The UA RISE Center is an early childhood education center that serves children with special needs and their traditional learner peers.
The UA RISE Center, located across the street from University Medical Center on the east side of campus, serves approximately 90 children in the full-time program and 35 children in a part-time playgroup.
2. Children with special needs receive a range of therapies.
RISE Center offers physical therapy, occupation therapy, speech and language pathology, and music therapy. Two full-time nurses also provide high-quality medical care to students throughout the school day.
3. RISE Center hosts annual fundraisers that ensure children with special needs attend RISE at no cost to their families.
The RISE Tournament of Champions, which includes golf and tennis tournaments as well as a silent auction, takes place each April at NorthRiver Yacht Club. Each fall, the annual BUY for RISE Charity Sale offers the community the chance to purchase brand new items at 75% and 90% off retail price from local stores.
4. Eight adults with special needs are employed by RISE.
The center’s REACH program offers job opportunities to adults with special needs. REACH stands for Recreation, Education, Activity, Community and Health.
5. RISE Center serves as a clinical placement for UA students.
More than 600 students annually take advantage of experiential learning opportunities at RISE. Students’ majors include education, human development and family studies, kinesiology, law, nursing, social work and many more.
