Noted Behavioral Health Expert to Speak at UA Symposium

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A noted behavioral health expert will give the keynote address for a graduate student symposium in The University of Alabama College of Education April 9.

Dr. Marvin Berkowitz, the Sanford N. McDonnell Endowed Professor in Character Education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, will deliver the address for the department of educational studies in psychology, research methodology and counseling’s annual symposium.

Berkowitz, whose speech is titled “Doing it Right: Evidence-Based Character Education,” is the author of “You Can’t Teach Through a Rat, Parenting for Good,” and more than 100 book chapters and articles.

A meet-and-greet with Berkowitz will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the rotunda at Carmichael Hall. He will deliver his keynote speech at 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Graves Hall following graduate student paper and poster presentations in Graves.

Sixty-two graduate students will present papers and posters in Graves Hall.

The graduate students are presenting a broad variety of topics and are from programs in the College of Education, College of Arts & Sciences, Culverhouse College of Business, College of Human Environmental Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies.
