TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will host the UA LEADS conference from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Ferguson Center.
The conference will allow students, faculty and staff to unite for a day of educational sessions and dialogue on leadership and diversity.
UA LEADS, which stands for Leadership, Education, Action and Diversity Summit, is a leadership development program organized through the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership in the Division of Student Affairs. Students will have the opportunity to learn skills and discover their passion through this program. The program will serve as a platform for beginning the conversation regarding diversity initiatives and the development of a leadership identity.
Students participating in the conference will receive tips on developing their leadership identity and competencies; exploring personal values, vision, ethics and purpose; learning how to work and lead in a diverse society; building a foundation for successful everyday leadership; enhancing dialogue techniques for successful conversations on social justice topics.
Drew Dudley, founder and chief catalyst of Nuance Leadership Development Services, will be one of the keynote speakers. Dudley’s look at leadership focuses on the smaller moments in life and challenges students to make the most of these instances.
The conference is $15 and includes breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. All UA students, faculty and staff are invited to register on the leadership.ua.edu website.
