April 16 is the final day for mailing back 2010 census forms. Students who send in their forms after Friday, April 16, may still get visited by census workers when they begin going door-to-door to obtain census information in May. Call the toll-free-help lines for assistance completing the form or if you did not receive a form.
The Student Government Association continues to work with the athletics department to develop the process that will be used for the sale of student football tickets for the 2010 season. Details and dates will be announced in UA Student News when plans are finalized.

Information tables for the 30-Day Tobacco-Free Challenge will be at the Student Recreation Center on Friday, April 16, from noon to 2 p.m. and at the Ferguson Student Center on Monday, April 19, from noon to 2 p.m. In 30 days you could reduce your risk of cancer and heart and lung diseases by joining with the tobacco-free challenge. Come by the Ferguson Student Center for more information and to pick up your “How to Quit Kit.”
The Career Center is accepting applications for a 2010-11 peer advisor. Peer advisors educate and train undergraduate students on career-related topics so they can provide assistance to their peers. Applications are available from the Career Center at 330 Ferguson Student Center or online. The application, a cover letter and a résumé are due to the Career Center by 5 p.m. on April 19. What do you think about alcohol on UA’s campus? Dr. Lance Kinney, associate professor of advertising and public relations, is surveying UA students to see what they think about UA’s alcohol policies and other alcohol issues. There are no questions about personal alcohol use and everything is anonymous. Click here to respond to the survey.
The outdoor pool at the Student Recreation Center is open from noon to 7 p.m. each day. Students must have a valid Action Card to enter.
Summer housing applications are available on myBama. All students are eligible to live on campus during the summer as long as they are enrolled for the fall. Students do not need to be enrolled in summer classes to live on campus. More information: Housing and Residential Communities at 348-6676.
Registration for the fall Get On Board day has started. Departments can register via e-mail to Alex Karagas. Organizations can register via myBama at SOURCE, which can be accessed by clicking on the “Campus Life” tab. Under their profiles, organizations should click on “Tools” then “Forms.” Priority registration deadline is May 7 at 4:45 p.m., with cost being $15 per organization and $20 per department. The official deadline is Aug. 20 at 4:45 p.m., with cost being $20 per organization and $25 per department. Payment must be made at 355 Ferguson Student Center (Student Involvement and Leadership). The University will hold its annual A-Day Game to conclude spring football practice on Saturday, April 17, at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Admission is free. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. ESPN will broadcast the game. Gates open at 11 a.m. A legends-flag-football game starts at noon. Students are invited to participate in the Day of Silence on Friday, April 16. Participants take a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing of people who are harassed because of their sexuality, gender expression or gender identity. Participants will distribute “speaking cards” to people that explain why they are not speaking. Cards can be obtained from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ferguson Student Center. The Alabama Forensic Council will hold open auditions for new members on Thursday, April 22, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday, April 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in 226 Reese Phifer Hall. Students can register for an audition in 210-A Reese Phifer Hall by April 22. Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities provides a definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, and search and rescue teams.
