Supply Store Ring Ceremony Will Feature Former Tide Player

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Students at The University of Alabama with 60 or more credit hours who have purchased an official class ring may attend the Official Ring Ceremony and reception Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the Heritage Ballroom of Ferguson Student Center. Former UA football player Bobby Humphrey will be the guest speaker at the event, hosted by the University Supply Store and Balfour Inc.

Dr. Mark Nelson, vice president for student affairs and vice provost, and Dr. Tim Hebson, dean of students, will present the rings.

Humphrey posted a total of 3,420 yards rushing in his football career at UA and set team records. He served as head coach for the Birmingham Steeldogs arena football team from 1999-2005, and holds the record for the most wins in that league’s history. In 2004, Humphrey was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

During the ceremony, as students walk across the stage to receive their class rings, they will have the opportunity to have a photograph taken with Humphrey and Nelson. Complimentary prints of the photographs will be available to pick up later that week at the University Supply Store. A reception will follow the ring ceremony.
