Teacher Workshop to Focus on Using Student Strengths in Classroom

The University of Alabama’s department of educational studies in psychology, research methodology and counseling is co-sponsoring a “Hope for the Future: Building Student Engagement through Hopeful Thinking” workshop Thursday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. at Paul W. Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa.

The workshop, also sponsored by the Alabama Consortium for Educational Renewal (ACER), aims to aid teachers in learning about current research-based practices that help educators capitalize on students’ hope and strengths, and boost students’ engagement, achievement, and well being.

The workshop facilitator will be Christine L. Khan, a national-board certified teacher and an expert in hope and strengths. She is currently a consultant for the Gallup Organization and an instructor for the Clifton Strengths School, and is also pursuing doctoral studies in counseling psychology at the University of Kansas.
