‘Computerized Investing’ Editor to Speak at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Wayne Thorp, editor of “Computerized Investing,” one of America’s most respected newsletters covering the use of personal computers for financial planning, investment analysis and portfolio management, will speak Thursday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Child Development Research Center on The University of Alabama campus.

His topic, “Beginning an Investment Plan for New College Graduates,” is free and open to the public. A reception follows.

The presentation, part of the Executive-In-Residence Series, is sponsored by the University’s College of Human Environmental Sciences department of consumer sciences.

Thorp is also a financial analyst for the American Association of Individual Investors. As a financial columnist for AAII, Thorp has written articles for the AAII Journal on technical analysis techniques, investor sentiment and the markets, and he now writes a regular column on stock screening.

He also is part of the development team for AAII’s Stock Investor Pro computerized fundamental analysis and screening program and serves on the Stock Superstars Report advisory committee. Thorp has been with AAII for more than 11 years.

Thorp is originally from Caro, Mich., where he was salutatorian of the Caro High School class of 1993. He attended DePaul University in Chicago on an academic scholarship and graduated with high honors in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Wayne was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2002 by the CFA Institute (formerly AIMR).
