Repertory Dance Theatre to Perform at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, the pre-professional dance company of The University of Alabama, will perform Tuesday through Friday, Nov. 13-16, with festive dances choreographed by UA’s renowned dance faculty.

The show will feature eight dance pieces ranging from modern and jazz ensemble works to traditional and contemporary ballet with music by Tchaikovsky, Handel, Dinah Washington, Etta James and others.

“Dance is truly blossoming on our campus,” said Thomas Adkins, director of theatre management. “Our last concert sold out on its Friday performance – an unparalleled record as far back as we can tell. If ARDT turns out to be anything like Dance Alabama, we strongly encourage our patrons to buy their tickets in advance to guarantee admission.”

The event will be held on campus in Morgan Auditorium, located on Colonial Drive in the UA Theatre District. Patrons are reminded that parking is no longer permitted on Colonial Drive, Stadium Drive or Marr’s Spring Road. However, parking is still available on the side and rear of the theatre building. Parking is also available in the ten Hoor Parking Deck #1 (entrance on Stadium Drive) at no charge, which is located next door to the theatre at the corner of Stadium Drive and Marr’s Spring Road. Parking is available in the ten Hoor Parking Deck #1 for the Friday performance beginning at 4:30 p.m. but patrons are asked to move their vehicles immediately following the performance to prepare for football parking.

Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre performances will be Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for UA faculty, staff and senior citizens and $9 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office in Rowand-Johnson Hall Monday through Friday, noon-5 p.m., by visiting www.crimsonartstickets.com, or by calling 205/348-3400.
