UA’s Phi Delta Theta Fraternity to Host Annual Chili Cook Off to Benefit ALS Association

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama’s Phi Delta Theta Fraternity will host their fourth annual Chili Cook Off to benefit the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. at their fraternity house on University Boulevard.

Participating organizations are asked to donate a $50 registration fee and provide a pot of chili using any recipe. The winning team, as decided by the judges, will have their organization’s name displayed on a plaque inside the Phi Delta Theta House. Additionally, half of the total money raised will go to the winner’s philanthropy of choice.

Individual tickets are $5, which includes all the chili you can eat, refreshments and live music. T-shirts displaying the logos of all participating organizations will be sold at the event for $15 and profits will be donated to the whole cause.

The deadline for team registration is Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.

ALS is commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in honor of the baseball legend who suffered from it. The ALS Association is Phi Delta Theta’s national philanthropy. Last spring, members of the fraternity participated in the Walk to D’Feet ALS which raised more than $42,000 for victims of Lou Gehrig’s disease and their families.

Donations to the Chili Cook Off will also be accepted.
