16 Vie for Miss University of Alabama Title

Sixteen students will compete for the title of Miss University of Alabama at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. The Miss UA competition is an official preliminary event for Miss Alabama in the Miss America organization.

“We have a very strong field of 16 contestants, several that were in the Top 12 at Miss Alabama in July and also several Miss America Outstanding Teen winners from their various states,” said Carol Wright, director of the Miss UA Program.

“We encourage everyone to attend the competition to support these outstanding students and see who will win the opportunity to represent her university at the Miss Alabama competition next July and possibly be crowned the next Miss America.”

The Miss UA competition, sponsored by The University of Alabama National Alumni Association and FATE – Future Alumni for Tradition and Excellence, has been a platform for candidates to share their passion projects, talent and intelligence for more than 48 years.

The winner of the title of Miss University of Alabama will receive a full-tuition scholarship for her year of service to UA and numerous other gifts and financial aid scholarships from numerous donors.
