TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama National Alumni Association travel program, Alumni Campus Abroad, is sponsoring trips to Italy’s Lake District and the Swiss Alps this summer.
The Alumni Campus Abroad program features an exciting combination of educational sessions given by an experienced campus director, excursions to historical locations, hotel and airfare accommodations, three full meals each day and the opportunity to interact with local experts. UA participants will have two different opportunities to join in the program this summer with the Swiss Alps family excursion July 18-26, and Italy’s Lake District trip Aug. 2-10.
The Swiss Alps family excursion, July 18-26, costs approximately $2,795. The trip will include round-trip airfare, a seven night stay at the Alpin Sherpa Hotel, three full meals a day and informative educational programs. The trip also includes a variety of excursions in which participants can visit Sherlock Holmes’ Reichenbach Falls, tour historic Meiringen, ride a cable car to the village of Hasliberg Reuti, experience the Hasli Valley, known as the heart of the Bernese Oberland, visit the Gentalalp Cheese Farm, explore the storybook Swiss villages and towns of Brienz, Lucerne, Interlaken and Grindelwald, and stop by Berne, the capital of Switzerland.
The Italy Lake District trip, Aug. 2-10, will cost approximately $2,895. The Italy Lake District trip includes round-trip airfare, a seven night stay at the first-class Lido Palace Hotel in Baveno, three full meals a day and informative educational sessions given by an experienced Alumni Campus Director. The trip also includes a variety of excursions to Baveno, a visit to the lake villages of Intra and Pallanza, a private boat trip to the three Borromean Islands with lunch included, a full-day excursion to Milan, Italy’s economic hub and one of the great fashion capitals of the world, as well as a visit to Lake Orta, a private cruise on Lake Como with visits to Bellagio and Tremezzo.
