Hunger and Homelessness Week Features Grate American Sleep Out on UA Quad

The University of Alabama Community Service Center will sponsor Hunger and Homelessness Week Feb. 20-24 to raise awareness to the issues of hunger and homelessness that face people in Tuscaloosa, the United States and around the world.

Mother of ‘Rainman’ to Keynote Alabama Autism Conference Feb. 24

Dr. Ruth Sullivan, the mother of Joseph Sullivan, who served as a model for the autistic character “Raymond” in the Academy-Award winning film “Rainman,” will be one of the guest speakers at the Alabama Autism Conference on Feb. 23-24 at the Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama campus.

Renowned Historian Harlow Giles Unger to Speak at UA’s Inaugural Friends of History Lecture

Dr. Harlow Giles Unger, a renowned historian of George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette, will give a public talk at the Westervelt-Warner Museum of American Art in Tuscaloosa, Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m. The talk, entitled “Lafayette, Washington’s Adopted Son,” is the first Friends of History Lecture.

UA Ice Hockey Team Takes a Shot at First Season

The University of Alabama Student Recreation Center is bringing more focus to winter sports with the formation of the ‘Frozen Tide’ BAMA Hockey team who will play their first games Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. against Vanderbilt at the Pelham Civic Complex ice rink.
