Freshmen engineering students at The University of Alabama will compete in an annual design project on Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 at the University Church of Christ gymnasium. The competition will test their ability to design a model airplane launcher and payload delivery system capable of transporting three ounces of play dough to a target.
The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will hold a Harbor training session on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Ferguson Forum.
Paula C. Johnson, John J. Sparkman Visiting Chair in The University of Alabama School of Law, will present “Civil Rights Cold Case Files: A Discussion of the Cold Case Justice Initiative and the Emmett Till Bill” on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 5:45 p.m. in Lecture Hall A of the Child Development Center.
Bama After Dark, a division of University Programs at The University of Alabama, is hosting a Game Watch Party for the Alabama vs. LSU football game for students on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Ferguson Center.
The University of Alabama’s department of theatre and dance presents the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre’s fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11-Thursday, Nov. 13, and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in Morgan Auditorium on Colonial Drive in the UA Theatre District.
The University of Alabama Crossroads Community Center will host the final First Wednesdays @ Crossroads for the fall semester on Nov. 5 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Crossroads Lounge in Ferguson Center.
Rock ’n’ roll has deep roots in the American South, from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis and beyond. Now Dr. Jim Cobb, the Spaulding Professor of History at The University of Georgia, will explore the Dixie origins of rock in “Southern History and the Roots of Rock and Roll,” the upcoming Friends of History lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Room 205 in Gorgas Library.
The Women Involved in Learning and Leading program, supported by the Women’s Resource Center and the department of women’s studies at The University of Alabama, will sponsor a week of literacy Nov. 3-7 on campus.
Distinguished pianist Jeffrey Siegel will be the next performer of The University of Alabama School of Music’s Celebrity Series at 2 p.m. Nov. 9 in the concert hall of the Moody Music Building on the UA campus.
