UA, Tuscaloosa Officials to Commemorate Completion of Bryant Drive Project Nov. 25

TUSCALOOSA, Ala – The University of Alabama and the City of Tuscaloosa will commemorate the completion of the Bryant Drive road project with a rededication ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. on the south side of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Featured speakers for the event will include UA President Robert E. Witt, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, UA Athletic Director Mal Moore and Tuscaloosa councilman Lee Garrison.

The Bryant Drive project, begun in September 2006, was divided into two projects, Phase 1 from Hackberry Lane to Queen City Avenue and Phase 2 from Queen City Avenue to 25th Avenue.

Construction on Phase 1 consisted of widening improvements from 2 lanes to 3 lanes on a portion of Bryant Drive, with landscaping and relocation of overhead utility lines to underground locations. Bryant Drive, in the Phase 2 portion, was narrowed from 4 lanes to 3 lanes, with the emphasis placed on heavy landscaping and also relocating overhead utilities to underground locations.

The general public is invited to the event. Those attending are asked to park at Calvary Baptist Church. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
