Three Remarkable Alabamians to be Inducted into C&IS Hall of Fame at UA

Three renowned communication and information leaders will be inducted into The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences Hall of Fame Thursday, Nov. 6. The induction ceremonies will be at the NorthRiver Yacht Club.

100 Lenses Photography Exhibit Opens at UA

The University of Alabama Crossroads Community Center and the UA Center for Community-Based Partnerships are celebrating the opening of the 100 Lenses Photographic Exhibit as part of Homecoming festivities on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 1-3 p.m. at the Crossroads Lounge in 232 Ferguson Center.

The University of Alabama Junior Panhellenic Council is hosting their annual Sorority Row Trick-or-Treat event open to all area children on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Filmmaker to Screen ‘The Order of Myths’ at Bama Theatre Oct. 30

Filmmaker Margaret Brown will screen her film “The Order of Myths” at the Bama Theatre Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences and the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa County.

UA Center for Ethics & Social Responsibility to Host Moral Forum Competition, Award $13,000 in Scholarships

The University of Alabama Center for Ethics & Social Responsibility will host the semifinal and final rounds of the fourth annual Moral Forum Tournament. The semifinals will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the Ferguson Center Forum (room 360) and the final round will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 in Morgan Auditorium. Scholarships totaling $13,000 will be awarded the final night.

Sex and the City, Circa 1600: UA Program Presents Symposium on Love Triangles in Shakespeare’s Plays

Shakespeare wrote, “Love is blind, and lovers cannot see the pretty follies that themselves commit.” But scholars will take a stab at examining those follies Saturday, Oct. 25, when The University of Alabama’ s Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies hosts the symposium “Shakespeare’s Love Triangles.” The symposium will begin at 9 a.m. in 301 Morgan Hall.

Dr. Cornel West’s UA Lecture to be Screened Oct. 29

Dr. Cornel West, a social justice activist and Princeton University professor, spoke to a capacity audience at The University of Alabama Oct. 16. A videotape of West’s lecture will be screened Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. in the theatre of the Ferguson Center on the UA campus.

Scholar Explores Idea of Chaos in Myth at UA’s Annual Aronov Lecture

Dr. Bruce Lincoln, an internationally recognized scholar in religious studies and the Caroline E. Haskell Professor of the History of Religions in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago, will give The University of Alabama department of religious studies’ 2008-2009 Aaron Aronov Lecture.
