Dr. Michael B.A. Oldstone, a National Academy of Sciences member and University of Alabama alumnus, will speak on the UA campus as part of a lecture series April 19-22 on how viral epidemic diseases have changed human history.
Dr. Douglas E. Jones, professor emeritus of geological sciences at The University of Alabama and curator of invertebrate paleontology at the Alabama Museum of Natural History, died April 2, 2010 after a brief illness. He was 79.
Dr. Thomas Hurka, a professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto, will speak April 13 at The University of Alabama on “Weighing Lives in War: When is Collateral Damage Excessive?” at 7:30 p.m. in room 205 of Smith Hall.
