TUSCALOOSA, ala. — The University of Alabama Crossroads Community Center, New College, Capstone International Center, Student Government Association, Ferguson Center, Housing and Residential Communities, International Honors Program and Career Center will host Global Simulation Workshops on Friday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Student Recreation Center.
The event will be held from 3:15-7 p.m. on Friday and 8:15 a.m. – noon on Saturday.
The UA event was modeled after the World Game Workshop which has been used in more than 2,000 schools across 35 countries. The Global Simulation Workshop is an innovative program that allows students to become global leaders who are responsible for running the world for 30 years.
Workshop participants will be divided into teams and each will represent geopolitical regions; multinational conglomerates of corporations; and global organizations dedicated to special issues. Throughout the workshop, the teams will trade both abstract and concrete resources, including wealth, technology, solutions, infrastructure, natural resources and more.
The workshop aims to build leadership and teamwork skills and to inspire students to explore the political, economic and social challenges that they face in a global community.
There will be room for 100 student participants in each workshop and those who are interested must register prior to the days of the events. Registration forms are now available in the UA Crossroads Community Center, and the registration forms are due by Friday, Sept. 8 at noon.
For more information about the workshop or to register, contact the UA Crossroads Community Center at crossroads.community@ua.edu, 205/348-6930.
