TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 2007 Capstone Creed Week at The University of Alabama March 25-31 will feature events designed to unite the campus community in celebration of the values stated in the Capstone Creed.
From the Capstone Creed Kickoff on March 25, to the Capstone Creed Ceremony on March 29, students are encouraged to enter the art and essay contests, and all members of the community are encouraged to nominate their own Capstone Hero.
The Capstone Creed, developed in 2000 by the Student Leader’s Council, is a reflection of the core values that sustain the UA community. This year, the SLC is sponsoring a weeklong event for the Capstone Creed with each day focusing on a line in the Creed:

2007 Capstone Creed Week events include:
Capstone Heroes — Capstone Heroes is an annual award given to individuals or groups who exemplify the Capstone Creed’s ideals. The awards are presented at the closing ceremony for Capstone Creed Week on Thursday, March 29.
Nomination forms are due to the Campus Activities Office, 231 Ferguson Center, by 4:45 p.m. March 7. Nominations may also be submitted to ccsopresident@sa.ua.edu or mailed to Campus Box 870369.
All nominees who are selected as Capstone Creed Heroes as well as their nominators will be notified and invited to the closing ceremony, where the Capstone Heroes will be recognized and honored.

Capstone Creed Week Essay Contest — Students currently enrolled at UA are eligible to enter. Writers are asked to submit an original essay representing a section of the Capstone Creed. The essay must be limited to 1,500 words. Writers may submit more than one essay.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria: representation of the Creed, creativity, originality, quality of writing, and other criteria deemed of relevance by the judges. Winners will receive prizes.
All essays are due by 5 p.m. in 230 Ferguson on or before March 7, winners will be notified by e-mail on March 21, and winners will be recognized at the Capstone Creed Week Culmination Ceremony on March 29.

Capstone Creed Week Art Contest — Open to students currently enrolled at UA. Artists are asked to submit an original work in any medium representing a section of the Capstone Creed. Artists may submit more than one work and their submissions must be ready for display.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria: representation of the Creed, creativity, originality, and other criteria deemed of relevance by the judges. Winners will receive prizes.
All work must be submitted to 230 Ferguson on or before March 19. The winners will be notified by e-mail on March 21. An exhibition and reception will be held for all applicants at 5 p.m. in the Ferguson Center on March 26. The winners will be recognized at the Capstone Creed Ceremony on March 29.
