Kazakh Scholar at UA to Give Talk on Study Opportunities Abroad

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Gulnara Zakirova, a Fulbright Scholar in the department of American studies at The University of Alabama, is giving a talk on “Study Opportunities in Western Europe and the Former Soviet Union” Wednesday, April 25 at 3:30 in 103 tenHoor Hall.

Zakirova is the vice rector for the department of international relations at the Ablai Khan Kazakh University in Kazakhstan. She has been lecturing across the United States since August 2006.

The department of American studies is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state. Students from the College have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
