New Orleans Film Producer to Screen Court 13 Film at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Josh Penn, a producer and member of the New Orleans-based film production group Court 13, will screen a short film titled “Glory at Sea” 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the AIME building, room 110, on The University of Alabama campus.

The event is free and open to the public. Penn also will answer questions from the audience.

UA’s English department is sponsoring the event, along with the department of telecommunications and film, the College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office and the Summersell Center for the Study of the South.

Court 13 is best known for the feature-length 2012 film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” which won the Palme D’Or award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Court 13 is a hive for collaborative, creative filmmakers; the group has produced several groundbreaking films, documentaries, and shorts. For details, go to  http://court13.com/films/. “Glory at Sea” is a 2008 film directed by Benh Zeitlin, who also directed “Beasts.”
