TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — More than 100 high-school students will soon learn more about the benefits of becoming a teacher and how The University of Alabama can pave the way to a career in education.
The UA College of Education Ambassadors is sponsoring the 9th Annual Future Teachers of America Day Friday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Graves Hall. High-schoolers, ranging from sophomores to seniors, will hear presentations from Dr. Peter Hlebowitsh, dean of the College of Education, department chairs and faculty members.
Students also will hear presentations from admissions counselors and the Office of Student Financial Aid. The day will be capped with lunch and a tour of UA facilities.
“Some students come from school systems that don’t see the University as a target school for them,” said Dr. Carlton McHargh, director of recruitment programs and alternative certification. “Students are in awe when they see what the College of Education has to offer.”
