ANNOUNCEMENTS

The University of Alabama and the Bryant Museum will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant with a variety of activities and events. In addition, WVUA-TV will air a Bryant documentary on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. Coach Bryant would have celebrated his centennial milestone on Sept. 11, 2013.

Celebration plans include new additions to the Bryant Museum’s section on the coach and a new book and a new documentary about Bryant’s life. As part of the commemoration on Sept. 11, the Bryant Museum will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at no charge for the public to see the new exhibits. Copies of the book and DVDs of the documentary will be on sale. Fans can participate in the centennial celebration by entering their memories of Coach Bryant at http://www.bryant100.com. Written comments and audio and video submissions will be accepted.

For more information, contact the Bryant Museum at info@BryantMuseum.com or call 1-866-772-BEAR (2327), visit http://www.bryantmuseum.com and follow the museum on Facebook and Twitter. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 300 Bryant Drive on the UA campus.

MyTickets will open for UA’s first home football game starting Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. Students can log in to MyTickets prior to the day of the game to verify which deck and gate they should access by using one of the following methods:

Tickets will have either an upper or lower deck assignment. Upper-deck tickets enter through Gate 30. Lower-deck tickets enter through Gate 31.

On game day, students who enter the wrong gate will be turned away and will have to get in line at the correct gate. To avoid this, students should verify their deck assignment and gate information in MyTickets prior to arriving at the gate.

For information, contact the Action Card Office at 348-2288.

The College of Community Health Sciences is leading a campuswide effort to vaccinate students, faculty and staff against the flu this year. The shots are free. During September and October, nurses from the University Medical Center, Student Health Center and Capstone College of Nursing will be located at sites across campus to provide the shots. Upcoming dates and locations include the following:

Students who want to receive emails to their myBama accounts rather than having their mail forwarded to another account should update their contact information on myBama at http://mybama.ua.edu. Remember, students are responsible for updating their own information to reflect their preferred email accounts.

One of the University’s highest priorities is the safety and well-being of its students. One way students can stay safe is to avoid traveling alone at night and to confine walking to well-lit, regular-traveled walks and pathways. Students can refer to the Safer Living Guide for safety precautions to take on and off campus.

Students may also sign up for the GUARDIAN program, which allows students to use their cell phones to notify UAPD at the touch of a button if they need emergency assistance or to set a passive timer based on their expected arrival time at a destination on campus or in the Tuscaloosa area. If a student initiates an emergency call or if the notification timer is not deactivated, GUARDIAN software provides UAPD with critical profile information and, in most cases, GPS information to help contact and locate the student if necessary. There is no charge to sign up for or use the program. For more information on GUARDIAN, go to http://mybama.ua.edu and select the GUARDIAN link.
