High School Students Come to UA for German Day

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will host a High School German Day Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the Ferguson Center with some 400 students from eight Alabama high schools expected to be on campus for the event.

The theme of this year’s German Day deals with German music. The students will compete in several competitions including poetry presentations, singing, skits, extemporaneous speaking and a spelling bee. Students will also create posters, original art work and videos.

At the end of the day, a representative from Mercedes-Benz U.S. International will present a $1,000 scholarship to one high school senior to attend UA. The scholarship announcement will take place during the awards ceremony in the Ferguson Center Theater at 2 p.m.
