CHECK IT OUT: Here comes the sun
Birmingham News – Oct. 20
The University of Alabama is one of a handful of institutions nationwide exhibiting a collection of photos taken through powerful telescopes and by cameras on NASA spacecraft, the university announced. The 26 photos, which include images of galaxies, planets and the sun, are on display at the university’s Museum of Natural History and are part of NASA’s celebration of 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy. Professor William Keel, a UA astronomer and curator of the exhibition, said the pictures were chosen for their visual appeal, rather than as a survey of the science they represent…The exhibit is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., through Dec. 23. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children and free for UA students, staff and faculty.
