Cyber Security Scholarships Available to UA Students

Students interested in fighting cybercrime for the country could get their degree for free. The University of Alabama got more than $3 million in grant money to provide five scholarships. It’s part of the National program offered through cyber court.

Former professor returns to lead transportation institute

Allen Parrish is returning to The University of Alabama on Feb. 17 to serve as executive director of the Alabama Transportation Institute.  Parrish was employed at the University from 1990 to 2015 and served as a professor in the department of computer science, founding director of the CARE Research and Development Laboratory, now called the Center for Advanced Public Safety, and associate vice president for research before accepting a position at the United States Naval Academy.

Registration opens for Nonprofit Training Academy

Johnny Sudberry had been in his role as executive director of the Walker County Children’s Advocacy Center for only a few months when he enrolled in the Walker County Nonprofit Training Academy last year.  “I found it very beneficial to me to understand the bigger picture of nonprofits, everything from working with a board to writing grants to working with donors and conveying your mission. It certainly helped me to gain a better understanding in a broader context of working in a nonprofit,” Sudberry said. Dr. Rob Morgan,professor of marketing and executive director for innovation initiatives at the University of Alabama, will discuss organizational strategic planning.
