TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity at The University of Alabama is hosting the Great Strides walk on Saturday, April 26, on the UA Quad to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis foundation.
The walk will begin at 10 a.m. with check-in time to be 9:30 a.m.
During this year’s Great Strides walk in Tuscaloosa, community, friends and family will come together to support essential CF research. UA’s mascot Big Al will lead the walk and there will be activities, food and music for all participants.
The local walk is part of a nationwide effort to raise funds for the life-threatening disease that affects 30,000 adults and children in the United States. Participants in the 2008 Great Strides walk in Tuscaloosa will raise funds for critical CF research, education and care programs.
Great Strides, now in its 20th year, is the largest CF fundraiser. In 2007, more than $34 million was raised to support vital CF programs. Tens of thousands of walkers are expected to turn out at 550 walk sites across the country from March to June.
