The UA Arboretum features over 100 species of trees and shrubs, including a certified state champion tree, the Alabama Black Cherry tree, Prunus alabamensis.

Part of the Alabama Birding Trail, the arboretum is a haven for wildflowers, birds, insects and other animals.
4. It’s a great place to walk and explore.
The arboretum features 2.5 miles of hiking trails through natural woodland, a tree canopy platform, an amphitheater, educational display greenhouses and botanical gardens.
5. The Arboretum is for everyone.
The UA arboretum is free and open to the public daily from 8 a.m. to sunset, except major holidays. It is located adjacent to Harry Pritchett Running Park, and the pavilion and parking area are handicap accessible. Watch for special events through the year by following on Facebook or Instagram, or by checking the website.
