4 Groups Compete for ‘Tuscaloosa’s Best Band’ Nov. 13

Four UA student bands are ramping up for a good cause and to earn the title of Tuscaloosa’s Best Band 2024. The Battle of the Bands raises funds for the Student Government Association’s Joe Espy Needs-Based Scholarship. The 2023 competition raised about $9,500.

The bands are new to this competition and will face off on Nov. 13 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Druid City Music Hall. The winning band will receive a cash prize. Competitors are Elbow Joint, Hannah Beall Band, Interim and Stick House.

“This competition isn’t just about the music; it’s a celebration of our student community and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact,” said Walker Parsons, SGA’s vice president of external affairs. “We are expecting another incredible turnout this year and are excited to see an excellent showcase of talent all while supporting a worthwhile cause.”

Voting will be conducted via single submission QR codes displayed at the event.

Individual tickets are $10 and can be picked up in the SGA office in the Student Center Nov. 6-8 from noon to 5 p.m.

Group tickets are available at a discounted price:

  • 25 Tickets – $225 ($25 discount)
  • 50 Tickets – $450 ($50 discount)
  • 75 Tickets – $675 ($75 discount)
  • 100 Tickets – $900 (100 discount)
