Flip Kitchen and Fantastic Fridays Are Back for Fall 2023

UA faculty, staff and students will see some familiar dining options around campus this fall as the Flip Kitchen finds a new tenant and Fantastic Fridays and Dinopoly both return.

The Mediterranean Sandwich Co., a local favorite restaurant on the Strip, will be filling in the Flip Kitchen location inside The University of Alabama Student Center this fall. The Flip Kitchen is intended to be a temporary location for local merchants and to provide more variety in the food court area.

“The Flip Kitchen features local vendors who have a food truck or are an off-campus merchant that accepts Dining Dollars. La Mexicana and Cheese Louise have occupied the space in the past,” said Kristina Patridge, director of University Dining Services.

Also coming this fall, the new Starbucks on University Blvd. will open on August 21.  This will be a drive-thru or walk-up Starbucks only, but whether driving, walking or using a wheelchair, anyone can enjoy this new location.

Fantastic Fridays have also returned for the coming semester at Lakeside where UA students, faculty and staff can enjoy the dining hall’s multiple offerings every Friday for only $6.50 plus tax.

Students will also see the return of Bama Dinopoly, based on the classic game Monopoly. Students can collect stickers from various eateries on campus to possibly win over 1,000 prizes throughout the 2023-2024 academic year.

Patridge added that four new off-campus merchants will be joining the Dining Dollars program, but they will be officially announced at a later date.
