Checkout lines might go the way of paper sacks for anyone grabbing a quick bite at several locations around campus. Bama Dining currently has seven unmanned, but monitored, markets where shoppers can quickly scan and pay for their own items.
“There is typically a freezer with ice cream, hot pockets, breakfast sandwiches, and other meal options and a cooler with bottled beverages, sushi, hummus cups, yogurt, sandwiches and other snacks,” said Kristina Patridge, director of University Dining Services. “Of course, there are various ramen noodles, mac and cheese, chips, crackers, candy and cookies available also.”
Currently, unmanned markets are located in:
- Employee Resource Center on University Services Campus
- Capital Hall
- Capstone College of Nursing Building
- Law School
- Campus Drive Parking Deck (Bus Hub)
- Moody Music Building
The kiosks only accept Dining Dollars, Bama Cash and all major credit/debit cards. All locations except the ERC also have Starbucks Serenade single-cup machines that make fresh coffee.
Similar grab-and-go food options are available at most other spots around UA, but diners will need to check out with a cashier at those locations.
Visit the Bama Dining website for more information about these market locations and other quick or sit-down dining options around campus.
