UA Music Student’s Composition to be Performed at Carnegie Hall

A composition by Tyler Grant, a student in The University of Alabama’s School of Music, has been selected to be showcased at Carnegie Hall in New York City in April. “Panoramic Landscapes” will be performed by the Scarsdale, New York, High School wind ensemble under the direction of Jason Noble. It is Grant’s first work to be played at Carnegie Hall.

Crowe-White Receives CHES Research Award

Dr. Kristi Crowe-White, assistant professor in The University of Alabama’s College of Human and Environmental Sciences, has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the HES Leadership Board Excellence in Scholarly Research Award.

UA Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Einstein Theory with Lectures

The University of Alabama will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Einstein’s theory of general relativity with two lectures about Einstein’s work by distinguished scientists Oct. 27 and Nov. 5.

Head of UA Computer Science Named Fellow by Accreditation Board

A University of Alabama professor was recognized as a Fellow of the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board, the lead society for accreditation of degree programs in computer science, information systems, software engineering and information technology. Dr. David Cordes, head of the department of computer science and director of the Freshman Engineering Program, received the award at the annual meeting of the Computer Accreditation Commission of ABET in July.

UA Engineering Students, Athletics Work Together for Medical Tent

A collaboration between Crimson Tide Athletics and the College of Engineering, a collapsible tent designed to limit distractions during medical evaluations while providing better privacy for student athletes at The University of Alabama has been introduced this football season.

UA Alumni Association Honors Four Faculty Members with Teaching Awards

The University of Alabama National Alumni Association has announced the 2015 recipients of the University’s highest honor for excellence in teaching – the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Awards. This year’s honorees are Dr. Mark E. Barkey, Kimberly K. Boone, Dr. Paul Houghtaling and Dr. Timothy S. Snowden.
