TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — ESPN, General Motors and SAS are a few of the companies presenting at The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce’s 2015 Business Analytics Symposium Oct. 15-16.
This year’s sessions include the transformative power of big data, unleashing predictions in healthcare, and how ESPN makes sports analytics count.
Featured keynote speakers are Dr. Filippo Passerini, former CIO of Proctor & Gamble and Culverhouse professor of executive education in business analytics, Scott Burton, executive editor of ESPN The Magazine and Dr. David Vanderveen, executive at General Motors.
The Institute of Business Analytics at UA’s Culverhouse College of Commerce hosts the annual event that kicks off Thursday, Oct. 15 at 8 a.m. at the Bryant Conference Center on UA’s campus. The symposium concludes at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
The registration deadline is October 7, with regular registration of $300 and a reduced rate of $150 for UA faculty and staff. Registration and details on the conference are available at http://mycba.ua.edu/basymposium/.
The INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional exam will be offered Oct. 14 as a pre-symposium event.
The Institute of Business Analytics is an applied research center that uses data mining techniques and analytics to enhance the ability of an organization to make better business decisions. The institute serves as a key focal point for business intelligence research within the Culverhouse College of Commerce for University/Industry partnerships in all aspects of business analytics.
