Bonnin Named UA Vice President for Strategic Communications

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A communications and marketing professional with 19 years of experience in higher education has been named vice president for strategic communications at The University of Alabama.

Linda Bonnin’s appointment was announced today by UA President Stuart R. Bell.

“Linda brings a strongly creative approach to problem-solving, a talent for team-building and an outstanding record of success in marketing and promotion,” said Bell. “We are excited that she is joining our communications team.”

Bonnin serves as vice president for strategic communications at Louisiana State University. Prior to joining LSU in 2014, she served as vice president for communications, public relations and marketing at the University of Memphis, where she worked for 17 years.

Bonnin will report directly to Bell and serve as his chief communications adviser. She will lead UA’s communications, marketing, media relations and related functions, as well as overseeing institutional branding.

Bonnin’s appointment is effective Nov. 2.

In addition to her higher education background, Bonnin also has experience in the private sector, government and media. She has won numerous awards from professional associations for her work in advertising, video, publications and marketing.

“I look forward to working with President Bell and his team to communicate the University’s many successes and to continue building upon its strong reputation,” said Bonnin.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bonnin is a graduate of Harding University.
