UA Doctoral Student Selected for Gerontological Social Work Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Yugi Guo, a doctoral student in the School of Social Work at The University of Alabama, has been selected to receive the 2015 Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work Pre-Dissertation Initiative Award.

The Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work, along with support from the Gerontological Society of America and the New York Community Trust, will provide support for a cohort of 12 social work doctoral students who have completed their first year of doctoral studies. The goal of this program is to provide students with support for their dissertation process and to prepare them for an academic career in gerontological social work research and education.

As part of the award, Guo, a native of China, will receive more than 10 hours of programming delivered by nationally recognized faculty who are experts in the field of gerontological social work. She will also be invited to attend the 2015 Gerontological Society of America conference in Orlando, Florida.
