Senior Recognized as UA Student Employee of the Year

Senior Jadyn Fields was honored recently as the 2022-2023 Student Employee of the Year by The University of Alabama’s Department of Human Resources, which has been recognizing the outstanding efforts of student employees for more than 15 years.

Fields works in the Center for Student Success, Office of Student Academic Engagement and Advocacy. Finalists for this award included Lewis Fischer, Jessica Stephans and Jayleigh Tawbush.

“I am proud of Jadyn for her accomplishments at The University of Alabama, especially being recognized as the Student Employee of the Year,” said Dr. Kiara S. Summerville, Fields’s supervisor and director of student academic engagement and advocacy in the Capstone Center for Student Success.

“It was easy to nominate her because she is outstanding in so many ways. Jadyn makes my work as an educator and practitioner meaningful. Her future is bright, and I have no doubt that she will continue to make UA, our office, and the Lucy’s Legacy community proud.”

“I am extremely honored and blessed,” said Fields. “Serving as Lucy’s Legacy Student Coordinator is an honor and I love being able to give back to the program that has given me so much — friends, memories, and confidence!

I hope I can inspire someone to put their best foot forward in everything they do because you never know who is watching or how you can impact others.”

HR invites supervisors to nominate students in early spring each year to highlight students who perform invaluable services with enthusiasm and dedication, all while balancing their respective academic commitments.

This year eligible students were undergraduate student assistant employees and work-study student employees working in hourly, on-campus positions. Students must have worked a minimum of six months part-time or three months full-time.

The selection period was for work performed from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023 (anticipated).
