TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Work by Bachelor of Fine Arts students in The University of Alabama’s department of art and art history will be displayed March 6-April 3 at the UA Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa.
A public reception will be held Friday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m.
The 2015 Annual BFA Juried Exhibition features Bachelor of Fines Arts candidates whose work has been selected by UA faculty jurors. All UA undergraduate art majors who passed the review for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree were eligible to enter the competition.
Exhibitors in the 2015 juried show include BFA majors Ausharea Adams, Jenna Cape, Meg Howton, Ali Hval, Ali Jackson, Tanika Powers and Kelsey White.
“The diverse body of work presented in the 2015 edition of the Annual BFA Juried Exhibition represents the most ambitious and informed work being created by undergraduates working toward to a professional arts degree in the studio program at UA,” said Pete Shulte, faculty coordinator and assistant professor of art.
The BFA degree is the professional degree for artists. It also serves as the foundation for the master’s program in studio art at UA. The annual juried event seeks to give BFA students the chance to compete and exhibit their work while still in school, providing art students more opportunities to exhibit and participate in art events before graduation.

The University of Alabama Gallery offers a year-round schedule of exhibitions of artistic works, artifacts, textiles and more from permanent collections held by UA, as well as works by faculty, students, and guest artists and designers.
The UA Gallery is located at 620 Greensboro Ave. in downtown Tuscaloosa. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and the first Fridays of the month until 8 p.m.
