The summit is free and open to the public.

The event is designed to develop heightened awareness of the dangers of drug use and the importance of drug education in an effort to promote community involvement. It will include medical information on the physiological effects of certain drugs and testimonials from individuals and families who have been personally affected by the consequences of the use and availability of those drugs.

“This is not a UA problem or a teenage problem or a race problem,” said Derek Osborn, executive director of PRIDE. “Drug use today is non-discriminatory.  This is a community problem, and we must face it as a community.”

PRIDE of Tuscaloosa is a non-profit prevention agency that educates and informs the community about the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol. They are dedicated to providing proven and effective drug prevention education programs and activities throughout the community to create awareness about and reduce substance abuse.
