
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Melanie Bridgeforth, executive director of VOICES for Alabama’s Children, will deliver, “VOICES for Alabama Children: Priorities for Change,” Nov. 17 at The University of Alabama.
The lecture is part of the School of Social Work’s Colloquium Series that brings speakers to campus to share expertise with UA faculty, staff, students and guests. Bridgeforth’s lecture will begin at noon in room 104 of Little Hall.
Bridgeforth, who earned her master’s in social work from The University of Alabama, began her career with VOICES for Alabama Children in January. In her role as executive director, Bridgeforth presides as the organization’s lead spokesperson and chief legislative liaison.
She serves on numerous statewide councils, including the State Children’s Policy Council, the state Early Childhood Advisory Council and the board of directors for the Alabama School Readiness Alliance.
Previously, Bridgeforth served as the director of government relations at the American Heart Association, where she played a pivotal role in the passage of numerous public policy victories to protect the health of all Alabamians.
VOICES for Alabama’s Children is a statewide nonprofit organization that works to ensure the well-being of Alabama’s children through research, public awareness and advocacy.
